This site is to show off my hobby of creative hand sewing. It has been a love of mine since I was 10 years old. Now, not only is it a very meditative past time, but it also exercises my eye & hand co-ordination after a battle with a huge brain tumour that didn't take my life but it took from me a lot of skills I took for granted. NOTHING ON THIS SITE IS FOR SALE. Items I make are for me, my family, my friends and occasionally, charity. Enjoy!

Beautiful colourful 1.5 mtr long x 50cm wide Kawandi style table runner using scrap modern and vintage materials….all pieces have raw edges as I adore the look of this. Thread used: variegated ‘carnival’ cotton.
Sampler: Kaza Guruma 2 Sampler on natural unbleached medium weight linen and cotton mix. The threads I used are a variety of shades of green I had on hand I will be sewing this into a cushion cover for my 92 year old mother-in-law who is now in care with dementia. She loves the colour green!
I love to explore charity shops wherever I am around Australia. Over the years I’ve found so many craft treasures like embroidery cottons, patterns, materials etc languishing on selves unwanted, unloved and I wonder about the story of how they got here. Bought and used? Bought as a new hobby and boredom set in? No time? Departed? Memories unwanted? I mostly use the material found and give the end result to friends. But for the past year or so, I started to give the end result..the finished item made from the finds, back to a charity shop for them to sell and raise funds for their charity. For me this is the perfect circle of giving. This is one of them: every item in this embroidered Peace sign including the hoop came from charity shops.
Amazing Op Shop (Charity Shop) find! Cottons still in its package, a birds nest mess of similar cotton and a 1/4 completed sampler ‘Cumulus Clouds’. I finished the sampler as best I could rather than the tedious process of unpicking. I think I’ll use make a cushion cover from it and re-gift it (donate it ) to the charity shop I bought ut from! The ultimate up cycling for a good cause!
